The Top 10 Tips to Improve Your Spirits While Seeking Employment on the InternetCategory: Careers (AB143)Originally Submitted on 7/5/2002. 1. Get someone else involved in the search with you. Two heads are better than one. 2. Completely change the descriptive parts of your resume for each job. Pull different talents and attributes forward depending on the job you're applying for. This makes the process creative and interesting. 3. Show personality and enthusiasm in your cover letter. You'd be surprised how much shows through in a 2 paragraph cover letter, so play around a little and reveal some of your personality. You have nothing to loose. 4. Take the Strengthsfinder test at www.strengthsfinder.com or another personality inventory so you can identify your core strengths properly. They are not usually what you think they are. Everyone else knows these things about you but you. 5. Ask a few friends to describe your best qualities and believe them. That last part is the hardest. 6. Don't expect a reply. Then you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get one. 7. Don't pay exorbitant amounts of money for help with your resume. Finding a job is a job and you'll get better at it as you go along. 8. Try very hard to draw a mentor to you. This isn't always possible but it's great when it happens. 9. Remember the Kentucky Colonel was turned down 1,009 times for his chicken recipe. Don't get discouraged until 1,008! 10. Keep a sense of humor. You'll forget almost all of this when you have landed that great job!
