1. Give great value to your ability to listen well.

2. Give great value to your ability to build lasting relationships with your customers.

3. Know your product . . . be an expert!

4. Rely on great service where words fail.

5. Don't worry unduly over harmony with staff and colleagues.

They may not even notice your irritation.

6. Keep territorial issues in perspective.

If you make enough money at this, you can retire and have all the space you need!

7. Have a reliable message center like Voice Mail, not a human.

This permits you to hear calls at your convenience, get the entire gist of the conversation and carefully consider your response before replying.

8. Don't resent the answering machine.

Answering machines are your friend. Answering machines put some space between you and your client while permitting you to be reasonably timely in your responses.

9. Don't listen to advice from extroverts. It won't work.

10. Have confidence in the knowledge that some of the world's greatest salespeople are introverts. (Who knew?)
