The Top 10 Thoughts on Celebrating Change (Hero's Reward)Category: Spirituality, Awareness, Path, Energy, Flow, Learning, Consciousness (BC374)Originally Submitted on 4/11/2001. The Hero's Journey is another way of viewing a rite of passage or personal development: adolescence, first career, sobriety, parenthood, retirement, self-peace, etc. The Hero's Reward is the ninth stage of this Hero's Journey. The hero has faced the shadow and has been victorious with his first attempt at big change. The hero's journey is not over yet, but he takes some time to celebrate. 1. At this stage in the hero's journey, we receive what has been missing and we become whole. How must you view yourself in order to actually seize the sword and become whole? 2. The hero often celebrates the victory at a gathering of allies. He and his allies reenact the journey and ordeal for both education and recognition. It is time for the hero to catch his breath, joke and boast, and receive a demonstration of love. Communion with friends offers a therapeutic quality. Do you celebrate your accomplishments often? 3. Some heroes exaggerate their performance or underestimate their significance. Which are you more likely to do? Why? 4. Can you remember a special celebration in your life recognizing an accomplishment or rite of passage? What do you remember the most about the celebration? What did you learn about yourself? 5. How do the other celebrants share in your victory? 6. A hero may receive several gifts after journeying through the ritualistic death-and-rebirth Ordeal. Often the hero is gifted with insight and can see through illusions or even develop a level of clairvoyance. What perceptions or insights have you gained by succeeding at a big change? 7. The hero is often initiated into a new community after an ordeal. The hero may now be known as mother, warrior, teen, healer, etc. What does initiation mean to you? Why do humans seek initiation? 8. By surviving an ordeal, heroes are frequently blessed with an epiphany, recognition in the share of divinity. How has the recognition of your higher self expanded through a journey? 9. The hero's journey has three more steps to go before completion. Why does celebration come before integration? 10. Are you working on yourself? Start planning your celebration now!
