The Top 10 Creating Health Through VisualizationCategory: Health, Well-Being,Self-Care, Diet, Balance, Eating (BF234)Originally Submitted on 3/13/2003. Visualization can be used to create perfect weight, health, balance and food choices. It utilizes the innate connection between the body, mind and spirit. Like magic, you create the "You" you want to be. 1. Get comfortable. Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Loosen any tight clothing. 2. Relax deeply Start by taking a few deep breaths. Begin relaxing every part of our body starting with your toes. Tighten and release muscles, one body part at a time, until you have reached your scalp. Then count yourself down from 10 to 1, relaxing more deeply with each count. 3. Think of something you want It could be something you want to have, be, do, or experience. Keep it positive. 4. Feel the excitement Let yourself feel the wonder and appreciation of having exactly what you want. 5. Imagine that you have already achieved it. See everything you want as if it is happening now. Imagine how thrilled you, your friends or family will be, when they see you this new way. Notice what is happening to your body, what you are able to do. Hear what people are saying, what you are saying. See the details like a child, planning the perfect birthday party. 6. Affirm Make positive statements now and throughout the day, to reinforce your experience. Use descriptive, embellishing words. Keep the sentences short and filled with feeling. 7. Ignore Disregard all doubting and contradictory thoughts. They tend to come and go. Just focus on the positive outcome you’ve been imagining. 8. Let go Trust the process. Let go of concerns about how this can happen, or why. Let go of the outcome. Know that the details are being handled. 9. Enjoy your visualization. Let yourself be playful. There is no set time limit. Each practice period lasts only as long as you are enjoying the experience. 10. Choose a specific time of day It’s best to practice at the same time(s) every day. Your body-mind-spirit will be most receptive if you make your visualization a habit or ritual.
