The Top 10 Questions on Our Call to Adventure

Category: Coaching Tools and Skills (CG27)

The Hero's Journey is another way of viewing a rite of passage or personal development: adolescence, first career, sobriety, parenthood, retirement, self-peace, etc. The Call to Adventure is the second stage of this Hero's Journey. Our hero is experiencing an increased awareness of a need for change in his life. A Messenger, which can be manifested internally or externally, announces that the hero is lacking (unmet needs) something or tempts him with the opportunity to gain.

1. When you received the call to adventure, was it an internal conflict, intuition, or thought process that announced itself to you?

2. Did a friend or stranger say something that made you aware of an opportunity for change?

3. Did an event or experience act as a Herald to the Adventure?

4. What was disorienting or uncomfortable about the call?

5. What called you to leave your comfortable Ordinary World?

6. Did you respond to the call or react to it?

7. Did you receive a call to adventure that wasn't in your best interest?

8. Did you ever have two calls at once and had to make a choice?

9. Have you ever been the Herald for someone else?

10. How did they respond/react to your message?
